Loosely based on author/illustrator Mike Ivy's childhood experiences and the characters he created at the time, My 8-Year-Old Self began as a series of drawings posted on social media. Ivy's initial idea was to create a character who felt awkward and out of place, which is why he always wears a spacesuit. (Plus, he thinks it makes him look cool!) Presented here are the first 70 beautifully cross-hatched drawings woven into a story following My 8-Year-Old Self's fantasies, mishaps, and triumphs over a year of his life.
